Hello! I hope everyone is having a great start to 2015. I am pleased to continue our periodic correspondence that provides the latest updates on the happenings inside the KMA. Since the last newsletter, there has been quite a bit of activity inside the KMA particularly regarding our non-profit status and the build of our Public and Member websites. Both will be discussed in this newsletter.
To start, I am very pleased to announce that our long-standing work getting our 501(c) (6) non-profit status is finally complete. David Thompson, the KMA president-elect has tirelessly tracked this down since January 2014 and his coordination resulted in our non-profit status being granted on 23 January 2015. The effective date of our non-profit status is 14 March, 2014. The following is an extract from the IRS letter.
We are pleased to inform you that upon review of your application for tax-exempt status we have determined that you are exempt from Federal income tax under section 501 (c) (6) of the Internal Revenue Code."
So, thanks Dave - this is indeed a major milestone for the KMA!!
Next, as many of you might be aware, we have been working on developing a robust team and collaboration capability for our members. The goal has been to provide you with knowledge sharing tools that will meet your needs as KMA knowledge professionals. After many, many months of hard work we are finally ready to go-live. Beginning March 8, 2015 the new site www.kmassociation.org will go live. The new site has both a public and member's-only side and is built on the Microsoft SharePoint 2013/Office 365 platform. We feel that this platform is most familiar to our members worldwide and provides the greatest flexibility for configuring to future Association needs – including Localization. Each member will be provided a log-in and is invited to check-out the new site. Some of the new features follow:
These sites belong to you the members; please let us know what you like and what capabilities you feel are missing. We want you to make the site yours and something that you will use.Dave Thompson will also be providing a webinar on April 15th at 5PM Mountain timethat will walk-through the new site's capabilities.,.
The KMA keeps evolving and we are pleased to share these new developments with you. I am looking forward to an exciting 2015. Send us an email at email@example.com to let us know your thoughts.
